Some Thorns Among the Petunias

My cleome are growing well, especially in the barrel planters. None have flowers buds on them yet. I have commented to friends and family about the internet sites that say cleome looks a bit like cannabis. They claim they don't know what cannabis looks like and look at me as some sort of suspicious ex-Vancouverite. Good grief people, you don't have to smoke it to know what the plant looks like!

Anyhow, here are my plants, so you can draw your own conclusions. They are growing along with Aladdin Cherry Petunias and Profusion Cherry Zinnias and a chartreuse ornamental sweet potato vine.

Note the thorns which are found on the undersides of the leaves and on the stems.
